When I first bought my 03' Grand Prix I had to immediately replace the front rotors because they were warped. 22,000 miles later the warping has returned with vengeance... Rawr!

Anywho... before I replace them I was wondering if anyone knows a good choice for rotors for less than $70 per.

Personally I feel this replacement is coming to soon, I'm very light on my brakes as evidenced by the nominal wear on the pads. Aside of weather conditions, what can cause warping?

More often than not, "warped" rotors are actually just pad material that's attached to the rotor unevenly. By being very light on the brakes all of the time, you're always in abrasion mode, where the pads are just using friction against the rotor. You end up with a bare rotor, so all it takes is once where the pad material finally attaches to the rotor to give you pulsing. This is what the bedding procedure is supposed to prevent, you want an even layer of pad material deposited on the rotor. They won't stay bedded in, though, if you never heat your brakes up enough to get the pads to stick, though.

I like Centric Premium rotors, they can be had for ~$50/each.

Oh that makes sense then, and as far as those Centric brakes the price is good.

Side note question... what is the purpose of 'slotted' rotors?

Slots are there to continually shave the pad, it prevents glazing and gives you fresh pad material against the rotor. Unfortunately, it's also noisy and, of course, reduces the life of the pad.

So how would you remove this uneven buildup?
What would be the correct bedding procedure?

I have a pulsing front brake issue and planned to replace the rotors and pads. Funny thing, over the winter the vibration went away or got much less noticeable but it is now back again??

I learned this one the hard way, proper torgue steps and sequence will elimiate the pulsing brake peddle. Didn't believe it when I was told the first time. It seems to be a problem more with the stock rotors and less expensive replacements.
