    I've been searching and searching. Have yet to come up with much info.
    I have an 07 GXP that needs brakes for the second time in 50K miles. GM really screwed something up.

    Is this 12 inch "upgrade" to f-body brakes relevant to me? I'm seeing that the stock GXP's are a bit over 12".
    I can get rotors for any one of my f-bodies but seem to be having trouble finding a decent price for the gxp.
    Would the caliper bracket from say an 00 TA be all i'd need to fit the TA rotors on my gp?

    Hopefully. Because I can get all 4 zinc coated drilled and slotted for ~$328.

    Nope, they are definitely smaller rotors, 11.9" vs 12.7", IIRC. If you REALLY want to downgrade, you'd need the calipers and brackets, just like everyone else.

    If you're going through rotors that quickly, there's something going on. Are you using a torque wrench on your lug nuts? Washing the car when the rotors are hot? Sitting with your foot on the brake after stopping from high speed? Seasoning the rotor/bedding the pads?

    your GXP brakes are 13" (really 12.9)


    I wouldnt recommend the F bod brakes because of the different pison size of the caliper, and that will give you a mushy pedal feel

    ZZP has the GXP replacement rotors for a reasonable price

    I'm not doing anything different with the GXP then i'm doing with any of my other cars regarding the brakes.

    At 40K miles, the rear left went from 1 squeak to grinding the rotor in 1 day. Those got replaced by GM with just a purchase of rear pads. I changed the fronts to Hawks HPS about 1K miles later.

    Now at just under 50K miles, all 4 rotors are grooved, the crossdrills keep getting filled, they always have rust on them, and the rear left just started squeaking again.

    About the only good thing about these GM rotors is that they're not warped.

    I didn't see any GXP rotors listed at the ZZP site. You'd think these things were made of gold with some of the prices that i've found.

    If you're rotor's have grooves in the then you either have a pad problem (defective) and that is what caused the grooves or the pads were not changed soon enough and were causing metal on metal contact and wore grooves into the rotor.

    Personally I think the rotors are crap. Obviously the car came with stock GM pads. GM threw on new rears with a new rotor. I changed the fronts to Hawks HPS before they were needed. All 4 rotors now need to be changed.
    When I say grooved I don't mean as in a rivet digging into the rotor. I mean more like a picturesque rolling hill scene. They're not flat but rather have smooth transitions from the lows to highs.

    Do the rotors that you're looking to sell me look like the ones on the bottom of your ebay store? 2 sets of cross drills then a slot, repeat?

    Oh ok. So it's more of a warping type issue rather than what I was thinking of.

    Your link lists the fbody upgrade which apparently I don't need. What can you do for slotted/drilled/coated stock GXP sized rotors?

    That's pretty typical on those rotors. The brakes on those cars are ususally only good for 20k to 25k, and the rotors are then worn beyond the limit to remachine them. The rotors are soft or pads harder than most cars. They really wear out fast!

    Have you tried having the system flushed? You might have some air in the system causing some uneven braking maybe? I am by no means a brake expert but it seems like common sense. That and the fact that Hawk pads I thought were pretty rough and were meant to be beat on at the track...not for everyday street driving...

    If there was air in the line you would be able to tell. You would have a mushy pedal along with no brakes.



    Hawk pads are pretty tough. But I would not recomend them.

    I have them on my street/strip car to no ill effect.
    I also installed them on a daily WRX with no problems.
    Hawks that is.

    No air in the lines. Been doing brakes for ~15 years. Simple really. I don't understand why brake shops try to rip people off so badly.
