I am getting all the error messages one normally gets when the throttle position sensor would fail, except REDUCED ENGINE POWER. (and the engine power does not change.) SERVICE STABILITY CONTROL. SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL. ABS, brake, and TCS idiot lights on. Everything clears if I restart the car.

Is this the ABS module, or something else harder to replace but less expensive?

First, scan for codes. It could be a broken sensor wire, a bad wheel hub, poor connection at the abs module, or the module itself. I personally had 2 breaks in the left front wiring and a poor connection at the module. Pop off the connector and spray both ends with electrical contact cleaner. I thought I had another broken wire the third time all the lights came on, but the last time was the connection at the module. You could try that first if you don't have a scan tool.

Took it to a shop, they say it's the ABS solenoid valve. I can't find an exact match for this part anywhere on the Internet. Things with similar names have priced from $275-700. Some parts are sellable, some are discontinued.

Does anyone else have experience with this part? Does this sound realistic?

think you mean abs pump. only thing worth that much, you can take it off and send it out to a few different places for a rebuild, all run about a 100 bucks.

yes the car will still drive and stop with out it on there.

Thanks for the answer. I refuse to be without ABS in Florida, where it rains year round, but I even less want to be without brakes.

like i said, the brakes work fine. drive normal and you wont need abs. hell i drove with mine disabled for 10 years. you can stop faster with out it if you know how to stop a car.

100 bucks for a rebuild sure beats 600 new or some used unit that might also be broken.

Took it to a shop, they replaced the harnesses, which did absolutely nothing. They gave me a printout which says there's a discrepancy in the speed sensors which is causing the error message, but there's no history showing which wheel is doing it. They say I have to drive the car longer. I have driven it for as long as an hour. I think the problem is, every time I turn the engine off, the errors clear.

Are the speed sensors in the hubs? If they are, I probably have narrowed the problem down. I changed the front hubs last year.

yep, speed sensors are in the hubs. that's the harness that connects to each hub. sends the signal back to the PCM which compares the speed of each wheel to see what is slipping or spinning relative to the others.

Sure enough, one of the new hubs.
