I'm considering upgrading the suspension on my 2004 Comp G in the near future. I've been reading a lot of forum posts on suspension upgrades, but everybody seems to recommend something different and most threads are for 97-03 GPs, which I know have a softer suspension than a Comp G. So some upgrades for earlier GPs may not be as much of an upgrade for my car.

Mainly what I want is more stability in longer, high-speed turns, as it feels like my car gets a little antsy in those situations. It doesn't feel coordinated, almost like the car wants to wander a bit, and it feels like hitting a small bump would be enough to break traction and start sliding. The car has been aligned in the last year and has quality tires. It just doesn't inspire confidence. I just want a few parts, not a complete overhaul, but something that is a noticeable upgrade in the $300 to $500 range. My car currently has about 169k miles and most if not all of the suspension is original. What would you guys recommend?

Not sure if ZZP's strut tower brace might be something to interest you? Claims to add structural rigidity and reduce chassis flex during cornering, which if I ready correctly sounds like something that bothers you at the moment

Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't get any replies here, so I ended up getting a few things based on what people said elsewhere. I installed front and rear strut tower braces, just the OE GM kit where you have to drill holes in the strut towers, but it actually made a noticeable difference. Pretty good for $43. Maybe ZZP braces are nicer, but I didn't want to shell out $80 each for those. I also have new trailing arms and lower control arms too with a custom bushing setup that I have yet to install.

Well that's great that there's cheaper OE ones, I actually wasn't aware of those. I would imagine they would make a good difference

Amazon.com: Chevrolet Performance 12498648 Strut Tower Braces: Automotive

Definitely worth the money if you want a mod for $43 shipped.

If you haven't, you could replace struts being they're fourteen years old. I guess maybe that's not really a "mod" tho

I have definitely considered that, but with no bouncing or visible leaks/damage/bad seals, I'm not gonna worry about it yet. They're certainly stiff enough for me at this point. I'm honestly surprised that they've held up this well. 172k on the car currently.

What made the biggest difference for me was the strut tower braces and the biggest solid sway bars I could find... Lol

I got the 34mm solid front sway from Dorman, the ADDCO 22mm solid rear sway, Moog end links and poly bushings all around.

The car I'm about to pull those off of could take corners like you would not believe... I could take corners at 60 that before would scare the crap out of me at 35.

Thanks for the input. I think upgraded sway bars with poly bushings will be my next handling upgrade after I get the control arms and trailing arms installed. And after I come up with some more money lol
