    I am told my gp needs both outer tie rod ends, but then I am also told it is recommended I do both inner tie rods at the same time, even though they are still good because the car is almost 20 years old with 159k. I went for a 2nd opinion elsewhere and was told only the outers need to be replaced that there is no need to do the inners. It is rare for them to go.

    My question here is who is right? is it overkill to do the inners too or would I be dumb not to?

    I'd just do the outers myself unless the inner tie rods were so rusted up on the threads.

    Some new moog ends or the high end napa brand work great. Get an alignment and you're good to go.

    if you grab the inner rod and push and pull on it you'll feel it pull out and push back in if its bad, the outer rods you can see it move at the knuckle when you push and pull on it.

    Thanks for the advice. The inner ones don't have any play in them so I think I'll just stick with doing the outters. I was planning on buying the moog ends off rockauto. Been very happy with their products

    i break the nut free, then bring it back to the tie rod, take the rod off and install the new one to the old lock nut. make it tight, this gets your alignment pretty close, still gonna need an alignment tho. dont forget to grease the new tie rods. they come pretty dry.

    Thanks. Good to know about having to grease the tie rods I wouldn't have thought of that lol. I'm definitely due for an alignment. The front tires are pretty bald with the inner treads being slicks. The rears treads are only marginally better lol.
