    I have a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT sedan 3800 Series II .

    I literally do not understand... I replaced the brake fluid, the calipers, the rotors, and the pads, all different brands, previous were all ACDelco parts, these new one are from ZZ. And it is only happening to my front passenger side wheel. I wish I took a picture of the old pad...

    To Temporarily remedy this, I got a 3m mask for car painting, hoping it was good enough to keep out brake dust, and I sanded the new brake pad down slightly, just to remove the ridge, it was flat after I did that. Outside of course. About 2 weeks later, 450 miles later, my car started making the sound it was making prior which is like a very loud constant grinding sound, a high speed non fluctuating smooth grinding sound, and it starts off as a subtle noise that builds up overtime and only happens when I make right turns, but eventually will get to the point of it being constant, whether I turn or not. As most people hear know the grand prixs use single pistons, and the piston sits right behind where the point in the picture is being grinded, how is it even possible... Also the front brake pad and side of the rotor are completley fine, on the original and on the new one, it only eats away at the back side of the rotor..

    The Brake pad when I took it off, was raised, where the rotor was engraved in .. the pad was literally grinding away the rotor, but the pad was not deteriorating in the same spot. I put 3000 miles on the previous brake pads, and like 120k miles on the previous rotors. They were fine, then one day after I got my re-manufactured transmission put in, which took them 15 days, the 5th day I returned it, for them to fix it under my warranty, I drove it off the lot, and it made a noise, which i thought was just a clip, they claimed they did not have to touch my calipers or brake pads to remove my transmission. But 2 weeks later boom, huge chunk eaten out of my rotor, and the pad was not eaten away where the rotor was... Also the new and the old, have the engraving in the same exact location... how is this even possible. I am at a loss and am about to take it to a dealer, just wondering if anyone knows what could be causing this...

    However when I did my brake change last summer, my front passenger side brake pad was worn almost to the backing, I figured it was my caliper, which I could not replace at the time, while the other pads were at like 1/3 the original size. But when I checked them, the new pads, after this happened, with the originals the pads were about worn the same as the other pads, just had that raised piece in the middle, the last person who changed my brakes before, was an uncle. if that matters. I dunno I am lost... I just do not understand and its frustrating.

    sounds like you got a beat caliper or brake hose. does the piston compress like it should, nice and smooth when pushed back in?

    or just joint the F body brake club. with R1 rotors and pads. you'll never stop better.

    How are the R1 rotors? Is it worth getting the drilled and slotted?

    ive had the f bodys for years now, been through 100 dollar pads that sucked, to 30 dollar pads that also sucked. always with cut or replaced rotors.

    i got all 4 corners stock rear, f body up front with matching e line rotors and scorched pads for 200 shipped. best damn brakes ive ever owned hands down.

    i met up with a local who has the same car as me, so i told him to take my car for a ride to feel the brakes. before he drove off, im like roll 3 feet, then stop, he almost kissed the steering wheel. i kid you not, the look on his face was priceless.
