No, you can run 17's no problem.

Lots of vehicles list parts that way. The struts on cars with 16', 17's and 18's on 2004-2008 cars are the same. (GXP's run different stuff).

I'd look at 17 AND 18" wheels. 20" are available but the tire sidewalls get too short and you can bend a wheel by driving over the tiniest bump. If you are going bigger both work. Use a tire calculator to find an outside diameter that suits your requirements. Go to some custom wheel sites and you will find application guides that know what fits your vehicle for strut and wheel housing clearance.

you'll break the transmission from the added unsprung weight. Most guys wouldn't run a 19" or above on the GM 4T65e because rebuilding it isn't fun.

    ~ fixed.

Go 18's, you'll regret 17's because they hardly look bigger than 16's.

Better tire choices with 18's too. You'll need 245/45/18 size tires.

    Think about it.

You are lowering the tire sidewall height when you increase the rim size to keep the rolling diameter the exact same. Going from a 225/60 to a wider but lower sidewall 245/45 makes it all the same.

All this advice is right on! 18" wheels are the way to go!
