Thread: Fuel filter. Flaring tool

I have the dreaded rusty fuel filter. Cant get it off. Line is all rusted to heck, also about 8" in. I was thinking of buying a 12" piece of the nicopp brake line but I will need to flare the cut piece on my car. Any suggestions for a decent flaring tool? The loaner one available at advance auto has horrible reviews. I realize I could use a compression fitting but would prefer not to. Thanks.

myself and a cpl otherson here would suggest compression fitting. scott is running a cpl on his fuel rail even, lol

Did it. $12 filter, $7 brake line, $4 compression fitting. Only comment is that I wish I would have used the nicopp line (they were out at my local store). I couldn't get the 90 degree bend that the oem had but it was good enough. Still surprised nothing leaked. I'll probably keep an eye on the compression fitting for a few trips to be sure it doesn't leak.
