I plan to replace the rear rotor and brake pads on a 2005 Grand Prix base model. I know that the piston has to be screwed in with a special tool that I can rent from AutoZone or Advanced Auto Parts. My question is whether I need to take out the parking brake cable? I have seen two videos on youtube and it seems I can just loose the four bolts, screw in the piston, replace the pads and rotors, and do not need to do anything with the parking brake. Is it true? Any input is appreciated.
