My IP brake light came on this morning and I was wondering what could be some of the major causes of this. Any ideas?

Do you mean the parking brake/brake warning light on the dash? One possibility is low fluid. Check the level in the reservoir. Fluid level can drop due to pad wear or a leak, so if it's low check your pads before adding fluid.

The other thing that will set this light is the parking brake. If it's pressed slightly (as little as one click), it'll set the indicator light but the parking brake won't actually engage.

The other brake warning light on the dash is the ABS light. Start by checking the ABS fuse. I believe that this can also indicate a problem with the wheel speed sensors in the wheel bearings, so you could check the wires to these sensors (a shop will need to troubleshoot to determine if the sensors are bad).

Thanks for the response. It is the parking brake light on the dash. I checked the parking brake to make sure it wasn't pressed at all and tomorrow I'm having the pads checked because the fluid did look a little low.

Filled the brake fluid and light went off. Looks like may need some new pads but gotta wait until it warms up a little.
