    Hey all, I've got components in the front with separate tweeters and 2 way cross overs in the rear deck all hooked up to a 4 channel amp and 1 sub hooked up to a mono block. My question is are components suppose to put out some bass? I tuned it by ear using Crutchfield website and they said tune it so you don't hear any bass from the fronts if you have a sub, now my sub hits hard n like it should, but some songs the bass sounds real tinny with the speakers... Any way to fix that? Thanks

    I set my low pass for the mids at 80hz. You want them to put out some bass to help delocalize the sub.

    Doing some deadening on the door's outer door skin will help the mids low frequency response as well.

    What do you have for a head unit?

    Yeah currently I don't have my filters on the HU on, just on the amps. I have an Alpine 153BT

    Use the HU's filters instead of the amp's.

    Mine are set as follows:
    Tweets -> HPF @ 4khz with an 12db slope
    Mids -> HPF @ 80hz with a 12db slope
    -> LPF @ 4khz with a 12db slope
    Sub -> LPF @ 80hz with a 12db slope.

    I run no filter on my mids and just don't overpower them. Like nos said that helps localize the sound to the front ( so does a lower high pass). What size are the mids? Using a lower frequency for the subs helps too but you usually can't go below 80 unless u have big mids. IMO a highpass on your mids only helps for higher volume output by protecting the mids from over excursion.
