hard wire the cams power plug to the fuse box.most have that option.

Be worried. LOL I did the same thing with mine and the wires broke after a 6 weeks.

Is it possible to rewire (or do something) so that the front cigarette lighter adapter loses power when the car is off? This would cause my dash cam to turn off automatically, which would be ideal.

the dash cam can be 1080p at 30fps or 720p at 60fps. I imagine the higher resolution is a better choice than more fps,

Yes, 1080P is the better setting.
