Has anyone done any repair work on a stock radio?

When the car is powered on, I can shine a light at it and see the clock. I know the bulb is out behind the display, that's a given.

The main problem is that pushing the "on" button does nothing. There is no button that has any effect, it just stays at the clock.

I have put an aftermarket radio in and all is well, but personally, I'd like the stock radio in for all it's functionality.

    Any ideas?

Yep, grab a good one off of CL, Ebay, or from a JY and install. Done.

Yeah, I'm a bit of a neurotic fixer. It bugs me to give up on something until I know it's beyond my scope.

You could pull it apart, check the board for cold solder joints, ensure all add on boards and chips are well seated if they have sockets.

Or..you could whip out $20 and put a working one in much faster.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I'd just replace it. Then you have all the time in the world to look at/fix the old one. If you can't fix it, then you have spare parts to hoard. Just don't put the dash surround back on until you're done messing with it or will be replacing that as well after all the wonderfull little plastic clips break off it

Smart insights. I guess I'll be keeping an eye out on a replacement.

    Thanks for the help.
