My 1997 GT has some serious electrical issues i try to turn on the a/c/heat on speeds 1-4 and it doesn't turn on instead it shuts off my head lights, but it'll work on 5 without shutting off my head lights. I don't know where to begin!! I almost forgot to mention that when i try to turn on the rear defrost they won't stay on long enough to defrost the window. and the function on the blower (i.e. front defrost, max a/c) it stays on front defrost and will not switch to anything else.

Blend door actuator is your problem for blower issue. The other one, i'm not sure. Did this just spring up out of nowhere or have you done any work on the car lately?

Ignition switch is your issue for the blower speeds/headlight shutting off.

Went through the same problem with our 2002 GT.

And when the ignition switch goes, everything will act wacky and strange, start there and see if anything else still is not working correctly. Rockauto sells a AC Delco brand switch for around 77 bucks.

Literally just had this issue! Definitely ignition switch replacement. Ignition switch assembly is around $75-$100. Or get it done in a shop for $200-$400 depending on your shop.

Ignition switch is easy to do, I had the same issue on my 03, I'll find the thread I used that explains it perfectly and I'll send it to ya. It has pictures and so easy to follow. Took me like a half hour to do it all.
