I have a 2006 GP that's bone stock with the monsoon sound system. I plan on upgrading the radio soon and I was wondering if there's anything I should be aware of? When I installed a head unit in my truck it was pretty straight forward. Just wire it up and go. I understand I'll loose the calendar and time on the IC but I'm not too upset about that. Any special adapters I need to buy to keep the steering wheel controls?

As far as head units go I was looking at some $200-$300 android units because the interface is appealing but I've heard they aren't too good. Any recommendations? I'm looking for something that's double din and could maybe play DVDs.

Pretty straight forward as long as you get the correct modules. Your going to need a GMOS-04 since you have the Monsoon system

Actually the more I look at it the more I'm thinking that a factory nav with a bluetooth add-on would work just as good. I test drove a GXP that had the nav in it and it seemed pretty nice, can anyone here back that up?

Well the factory navi isn't bad but finding a complete one you'll be spending $800 or so from what I seen them sell for in the past.. Then another $100 or so to have the radio unlocked by the dealership. Let's just say you'll be spending a grand or more. Versus finding a aftermarket head unit such as pioneer etc for $200-400 or I'm sure there's a android compatible head unit within that price that has mirror capability so you can just use your phones nav when needed and will cost well under a grand
