I have a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP with the Monsoon system. I am nooott impressed with the system. The rear speakers rattle, however I do not feel like replacing them. I'd rather replace them with a sub in the trunk (since the rear speakers produce mainly bass anyway). I already have the wiring and everything in the trunk for a sub, all I have to do is buy one. I have a couple of questions about the factory system though:

    1. Is the factory Monsoon amp in the trunk only connected to the rear speakers and would disconnecting and removing this amp affect any other part of the system other than the rear speakers (which I plan on taking out as well when I remove the amp as well)?

    2. I have jumped the audio cables going to the rear speakers for my sub audio. Would the fader on my stereo head unit still function correctly (front fade would be for front speakers, rear fade would be just the sub)?

Thanks ahead of time for any help.

The Monsoon amp controls all 9 speakers in your car. Yes I said 9. Center dash, 2 front woofers, 2 front tweeters, 2 rear subs 6x9 both come off of one channel from Monsoon amp, And 2 small full range speakers located within the 6x9 subs.

So I would be better of just simply removing the rear speakers? Would the fader still work properly considering I jumped off the rear speaker wires? I'm pretty intent on not replacing them (just an 18 year old kid without a lot of money (and if I'm gonna add the weight of sub, I'm gonna remove some weight too ).
