I just got off the phone with Crutchfield, and they said this was the adapter to allow steering wheel controls to work, as well as retained accessory power and chimes; my question is: has anyone had success/failure with this product?

I just installed it today but my steering controls are not working. I will be looking into it tomorrow. My chimes still work though

Last weekend we put in an aftermarket deck with that PAC RP5-GM11. The install went well but a day after installing the deck, driving down the road, all of the gauges quit working (except speedometer) and the traction control light comes on also. We pull over, turn it off, turn it back on, and everything is working again. I disconnected the battery to maybe reset the computer but it has happened again. Not sure if it has to do with the PAC adapter or if it is coincidental and the BCM could be going bad? Crutchfield told me that was the proper adapter and the Axxess brand one isn't necessarily any better. Been reading it could be either things. Who knows... Think I'll pull the radio for a couple of days and see if we can replicate the issue we're having.

I just installed a new Pioneer HU with the PAC RP5-GM11 into my 2004 Comp G a few days ago. Install was very simple, I was able to retain my steering controls but the buttons didnt match with what was programmed on the PAC. I had to reprogram it which was easy to do but still not a perfect match to my steering wheel controls but I can live with that. Some HU's will match better than others.
I have not had any problems with it other than that and losing the Date/Time on the DIC.

Will this work/is there a adapter for mine? 2000 GTP. The lcd display on the radio doesn't work and I have to depend on the heads up to see what station I'm on and Id rather have a nice head unit then the boring old stocker

So we pulled the deck and the PAC RP5-GM11 for a few days and have not had an issue with the gauges going down. We've installed a GMOS-01 and have not had any issues with the gauges yet either. Might ask if Crutchfield will send us an Axxess ASWC-1 when I ask to return the PAC harness to them. Seems like something with the PAC was conflicting with the BCM and causing us the grief so not sure if the ASWC-1 will be any better. So far the GMOS-01 is working but sadly, no steering wheel controls.

I would trust Crutchfield, I just ordered a Pioneer with SWC adapter from then and no issues. My adapter was different because I have an '02. Programming is a b1tch, but follow the instructions, you only have to do it once.

Yea that's what I thought I just ordered one. What did you have to do differently? I have a 2000 grand prix gtp with a pioneer avh5200dvd.

I think this needs to be split between pre 04 and 04+ for less confusion. I thought that for 04+ you need the GMS04 and another adapter in order to do steering wheel controls.

What needs to be done for pre 04?

Look around there is a lot more information for pre 04. After that everything I have run across is sketchy and it also depends on which sound system you have. Some have basic CD players and others have the Monsoon system.

Crutchfield is the bible in terms of a parts resource, let them tell you what you need based on year and configuration, once you know what you need you can buy it anywhere.

Just installed one with my pioneer avh-x2700bs, install was pretty straight forward and no issues so far other than steering wheel controls don't match up.
