And this is on your 05' I take it? Is there a way to reprogram the module to make the steering wheel controls match up properly. I would see this as an issue.

Yeah it can be reprogrammed, just don't have time to tear into it again just yet

Ok cool, I have been looking at doing my system and add an aftermarket radio and have heard conflicting reports.

It comes with reprogramming instructions, the hardest part was soldering it to the wires of the HU

I'll look it up online I have used a lot of PAC products in the past but got out of it just as CAN and most of the other hassles came on the market in new cars. Most I ever had to deal with was corvette's and having to take the radio apart and hide it under the seat to keep some functions working. I think that was in the mid-late 80's

Anytime, it doesn't bother me bc my unit shows it in the upper right hand corner of the radio

So i'm going to bring this thread back from the dead and share some issues I recently had. Like others have said I occasionally had my gauges go dead and would have to shut the car off and turn it back on to get them back. Had this happen 3 or 4 times since installing my new stereo in January. Thursday, I was coming back from a pretty long road trip and on the way back all of a sudden the radio stops, and smoke starts pouring out of the dash. I pull over (I was doing 80 on the interstate, so I was freaking out pretty bad) and shut it off and it's still smoking horribly out the dash and radio area with a plastic burning smell. Long story short, I think a wire shorted out from the PAC box and almost burnt down my car. I'll let the pictures do the talking.

So was your error? I guess the radio and plug for the PAC were both melted? And am I correct to assume that the yellow wire is Constant hot?

Yellow i believe is constant hot. Not sure how it would be my error as it was grounded good, and the yellow wasn't spliced or anything by me. It was just a plug and play thing on that side of it. Pretty sure it was just a bad part. I'm going to call the manufacturer tomorrow and see what the deal is.

I had the gmos-01 die on me. Chimes would sound like a submarine and take forever to shut of and the gauges would go dead. Car was still running fine. Also the cruise control stopped working.

When I disconnected the box and just wired the stereo to constant power everything started working again. Just gonna pick up a regular harness if I can find one. Not sure if the 04 plug is the same as the 08.

Afaik you can't just hook it up with a normal harness.

by install error I meant like it rubbed through the insulation on the blue enclosure.

did you get another one or what did you end up doing?

as far as connecting it directly, Chrias I think your going to have issues.

Oh I meant to post an update. Sorry. I contacted their support and after a little runaround they sent me another module. I haven't installed it yet so nothing to report as far as it being ok or not.

They did recommend that I have it professionally installed just to rule out any such issues being me, but I informed them that unless they were sending me a check to pay for that, I'll be installing it myself again.

They did say they might have their engineering dept contact me about sending the defective unit back so they could go through it. Haven't heard from them about that yet though.

The only issue I'm having right now is that I have to turn off the radio manually because the gmos-01 unit has been removed and the accessory wire on the head up it is connected to a constant 12v. I tried running the accessory wire to a switched 12v to the fuse box but the radio won't work.

I just have a 2008 GP base model, w/o monsoon and w/o OnStar and Im using the GMOS-01 on my car and I suffer the same problem with my gauges shutting off for a second or two but they come back on. I thought it just happened when I use my usb on my radio to charge my phone, but yesterday it happened again and I wasn't even using my usb. Im just worried about the long term affects on my car since I barely put in my aftermarket radio like a week ago. Anyone find anything out about this?

Check and see if your cruise control is working or not. If it isn't, it's the gmos-01 unit slowly failing. Another sign is the chimes take longer to turn off or it starts sounding like a submarine chime.
