That's what I'll eventually do as well. I just thought that the head unit takes the power from the amp to turn it on and keep its memory. I'm probably totally wrong but I believe I read it on a thread here. I thought that was retarded.

That's why you go aftermarket with the HU :)
Kay. so lets get this straight. The power that is powering the HU is NOT coming from this monsoon amp? I have a Kenwood DNX690HU. I'm looking at a Rockford 4-channel to power Polk Audio MM's all around.
In a thread I was reading, one dude said that if you remove the Monsoon Amp you need to rewire your power and memory/consistent power. Is the dude on drugs or is he right? cause I wouldn't wanna play with that **** if that's the case. I'll rewire the cars speakers but I'm not tapping into something to turn the HU on and all that stuff.
If you remove the Monsoon amp and replace with aftermarket amp, and replace stock HU with aftermarket then you will need the GMOS-01 harness to power your HU. This harness will convert your LAN circuitry to a 12 volt signal to power the HU. With the setup you are describing you should have a very nice sounding system. Blowing away the lousy Monsoon system.
Yeah. The monsoon system is garbage but it's okay for treble I guess. With the Type R's powered by the 2400watt amp they really pound so I don't really need bass coming from the speakers.
But... I blew the type r's this morning. Second set. Alpine really doesn't make thier **** like they used to. I think I'm going to throw two 12" Memphis MojoX's in this thing. They handle 1750 a sub RMS. But I've gotta make a custom box for those guys now.
RED. I have a question regarding the transmission. Is there any sensors or something that I could have got wet when I washed this car because it's like the transmission can't make up its ****in mind from 1st to 2nd and it's a rougher, jolty type shift. You can really feel it. Never did that to be before up until I washed this car.
How did you blow your subs?? :(.. i think you need to research some more on audio..i have had the same subs for going on 10 years now and they sound just as good as the day I bought them.. If this is the 2nd set you have blown you need you reevaluated they way you are wiring and powering everything lol
Yup and your probably overpowering them :) yup been there done that in the past and now I'm over the whole subwoofer thing. Shouldn't have messed up anything when you washed it.. How long have you been driving it since the swap.. Remember the PCM relearns your diving habits. IIRC it occurs anytime the battery is unhooked. Oh and for the heck of it check your fluid level.
They're blowing because they are available RMS sub.. maxing out at 1000 RMS. The amp I have is for surely over powering them so I'm done with them. I just need subs that can handle the ass kicking that my amp will give
I never swapped the PCM. But maybe that's what it's doin. I checked the fluid level and it's good. Doesn't smell bad at all either. I can't believe this car has 99500KM.. this previous owner obviously blows at driving if he smacked this car up hardly putting the K on it
Subwoofers are apart of life... they are a necessity man lol.
Variable* not available... phone thinks it's smarter than me
What rms is your amp rated at and what ohms are you running for the amp and subs? Are you setting them up and tuning by ear? 2000 rms is rediculous for the stock speakers and if you are pushing that i dont see how you can even hear the speakers. im pushing 600 rms into 1 12" AQ and its more than enough for the stock speakers. Also alot of the time people blow subs for running incorrectly built boxes or incorrectly wiring them.
Edit: Also just read you said the amp is 2400? Is that rms?
The amp is a 2400watt RMS. Peak doesn't mean ****. I don't tune by ear either, I use a voltage tester and do it that way. There's no clipping. I've got a ****ty box. I can't even remember what it is. It's ported but it's a garbage box. These subs require 1.1CF for each sub ported or sealed. From a rough measurement before I don't think these subs have enough room.
Sad thing is that I wasn't working this pair that much. Last pair I worked hard but I toned it down a lot and they still blew.
Usually you smell the voice coils before they go and this time it never smelt. Just quit.
Lol if you ever come to saskatoon, saskatchewan you can sit in the car. It's actually not bad. I throw no bass to the speakers but I turn the treble up and let the subs do the pounding.
Im not a rap type dude. I listen to that sometimes but I'm mainly bumping five finger death punch, slipknot or something awesome like that. Dubstep kicks ass too. But mainly a metal head so that's why I have 10's... keep up with that double pedal lol
Is there anything else worth listening to? Lol
So I said "**** it" and bought two 10" Orion HCCA's. 300 watt RMS combined. I think my 2400watt Alpine will have its pants full now
3000Watt*
