Hey everyone, got a question concerning speakers. I bought a Kenwood KDCBT852HD for my red 2000 Grand Prix and want better sound and hopefully a little more base. Every article I read says replace the stock speakers first and that should make a huge difference in sound. I already replaced the door speakers a while back with Kenwood because one of them blew. I am not in to blowing my ear drums and really don't need anything loud. Can anyone recommend a decent pair of 6x9 that wont break my bank account and should that help alone or should I get an amp.

    Thanks

i changed all my speakers, and added a 500 watt amp and 12 inch sub, the new speakers alone made the stock radio twice as loud as it was before. and the sub just fills in the sound and adds a nice bump.

i dont even know what speakers i used any more it was last year lol. pretty much anything will sound better then the old paper stock speakers.

If you're looking to be on a budget, I currently have Kenwood Performance Series 6x9's in the rear. Bought them eBay for roughly $60.

I personally like them. They are way better over stock and are "cheap." They have a high peak wattage - 600+ watts, they can handle a decent amount of power. I've ran multiple amps to all my door speakers and I highly recommend it. Night and day difference. Even just a small 4-channel amp will work great. I suggest that.

I've ran a 1200 watt SPL 4-channel amp to my speakers, and these speakers have not blown within 2 years of being hooked up to that power.

And as a bonus, you already have Kenwood in the front, so might as well have Kenwood all the way around.

I'm a fan of Kenwood, they work well, sound decent, and the majority of their products are fairly priced.

I have always been a fan of Kenwood also. I have the same head unit in my black GTP but it sounds great the way it is because the car already has the Bose system with amp.

If you're a fan of Kenwood, you might as well get a set of the speakers I linked to you. Match the front speakers you have.

Yes Kenwood was my first choice, that should make huge difference in sound. I don't know why, but with the original stock head unit, it sounded better than with new head unit. Maybe it has to do with impedance or ohms

Got the new Kenwood speakers installed and it sounds ten times better. One thing I never noticed before is the passenger rear speaker was blow. Didn't notice till I installed the new driver side speaker first and adjusted the balance to see if replacing the speaker made a difference. As a note, it is a pain in the you know what taking the back seats out and putting them back in. I did take the time to clean my 3rd brake light and the rear window before putting the seats back in.
