so I re-soldered the electric photocell and re-installed HUD. Display works great. However, I see some horizontal red lines. Is this normal? Please help.

I re-soldered two terminals and the red lines are pretty much gone. It is faint but not as noticeable. I am not going to fuss with it anymore...lol

I see them in mine as well but only at night. I haven't done anything to my hud. I guess it's just normal for a select few.

It has been so long that I honestly do not remember what the HUD display looked like originally.

Just took it out for a drive. HUD works real well. Nice and bright. Those red lines are indeed part of the display at start up; however, the are real faint. In fact, when you get out on the road they are not noticeable at all.

Given the option of fixing it versus buying a new one, I chose to fix it. In fact, I also replaced the trim piece because mine was beginning to blister on the left hand corner. Believe it or not, you can still buy it through GM's outside suppliers. New trim piece looks pretty snazzy.

Wow. I'm sure you could have picked up that trim piece in good condition from a junk yard for less than $20.
