I found this under my dash while changing the needles on my 00 GTP and I have no clue what it is or what it's for...

Looks like it may be for an aftermarket alarm system.
Obviously, it's a sensor.
But, srs...most likely for either that ^^^
Or the keyless remote.
Well after doing some more searching I found that it is the stock Alarm "body impact sensor". The little knob on the side is where you adjust the sensitivity.
Thanks for the replies.
I'd be really surprised if that was OEM equipment.
I've been selling GM parts for over thirty years and have never seen anything like that. I'm not saying it's impossible, just not very likely, particularly given its location near the OBD II connector.
I won't be back to work until next week or otherwise I'd look it up.
Have one in mine too. I was told it was Oem security sensor.
I guess we learn something new every day. Last time I learned a new part on our cars it was a pulse board.
I suppose ol dogs can learn new things. Lol
I was curious why my alarm would sound off at early hours of the morning by itself and then I found this dangling under the dash. I attached it back to the metal knee bracket and it hasn't given me any problems since. Maybe I found the problem.
