I have a buddy with the ap1500 and there 4 channel and there is massive amounts of draw on the system, until recenlty when i let him get one my spare batts. so expect to upgade something else. Usally start with big 3, make sure grounds are good and sanded to bare metal. Thats a good start.
Odd. The apsm series is the one that raised all of the hoopla when it was clamped. The apsm is getting a lot more love than the standard AP series ever did, aside from the 3k. Im interested in what you're basing this opinion on.

The apsm can put more out about 100 watts more but becomes distorted faster. so say your at 1 ohm 1k. the ap will not burn your subs from clipping to death. But there is more to it. needs more juice

Lol, with stock electrical, very few AP amps aside from the APK do rated with anywhere near a clean signal. Caraudio.com got me interested... seeing my own o-scoped and clamped proved it to me. Did i get 1500 clean? Nope. Ap1500 performed much the same. However, none of this matters as he doesnt need rated, and both amps will do what he needs. Regardless, the apsm series being inferior.... i disagree. Especially considering the fact that he won't hear a difference between the two amps, and I highly doubt anyone else would.

That will do a little something. However, the obsidian, sundown sa, and skar vvx will stomp them... with a single sub lol, on either audiopipe amp. I'm speaking a ported 12 here... if you wanna give up the space to run a 15 then things get fun lol. I know for a fact obsidian 15s get naaaaaaasty in 97-03 trunks in 3.5 net with a single 6" Aero... sub up/port rear drivers side.

Idk bro, I did everything under 600. That was brand new. Knu wire, 100 buck pioneer hu, oa12, apsm1500. Sounded alright and did the deed... awesome for a budget build. He can do better if he's patient and hunts used deals.

Edit: op, can you or someone you know make straight cuts? Building your own enclosure usually greatly reduces costs... not as hard as some make it seem. My fiancée and I built one on the front porch lol.

Sweet. That makes your budget that much more feasible. When you decide on the sub and amp, we can talk enclosures.
