This question has probably been asked many times but a search of the forum and quick look online turned nothing so I figured it couldn't hurt to ask it here one more time. So I have mounted my amp, ran the RCA and control wire to the head unit and ran a ground wire to a metal portion of the car. Then I took the power wire and ran it all the way to the front of the car under the trim and put all the trim back together. Here's the problem, now the power wire is sitting at the feet of the front passenger seat and I need to run it to under the hood to connect to the battery terminal. I can't seem to figure out the best way to do this, I can feel an area behind there that might be an easy place to drill into and run the wire through there but I don't exactly know what's behind it so I'm not so sure this is the best route to take. For those of you with GP's where did you run your power wire to your battery? I have a 2002 GP GT if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance.

There's a grommet in the passenger footwell that you can run it through

i took my pass side wind shield cowl off, and on the left side under the windshield i drilled a hole, and fed the amp power wire through the hole, it came out at the pass side floor, i tucked it behind the rug and ran it along the side to the trunk. you can take some vac line, cut it then put it over the amp line to protect it from the hole you drilled.

only part that sucks is you ran it already, you cant feed it up, you have to feed it from the engine bay. so to do it this way you need to take the amp wire back out, and start over. this way you can have a in line fuse under the hood too close to the battery.

my amp just needed a 12 v remote wire, i added a add a fuse to the wiper fuse, ran the remote wire from there, it only works if the key is to run.

I was able to put a 4 gauge through it. You need to make a hole for the wire. It leads out right next to the power steering rack on the passenger side. I think i have pics.

    Follow the red wire

Once you get it started... look up fron under the car by the rack..you'll see it.

Saw what Scott mentioned. I was able to fed mine from the inside of the car out. My wire was new and had nothing on it.

    Second note..

If you are ever looking for a tool to route wires etc, Take a gear selector cable out of something like a GP. Cut one end off. Works awesome because it's strong and flexible.

the install kit i used had a inline fuse on the power line, so it had to fed from the bay, you also cant see the hole to feed it to where i drilled.

truth is i didnt like that rubber block at all, seemed like the wire was to close to hot engine parts, and drilling that rubber block scared me. as the plug on the other side turns a odd way.

the amp line just follows the washer fluid line to the cowl and it disappears.

    Nice Scott.

I brought mine up with the wire loom in that grommet. Actually it's in the loom and then comes out at the relay center and follows the body another 6inches to a foot over to the battery. The inline I added is probably 6 inches off the battery. It all tucks nice and clean to keep from having any of the issues you mentioned as your concerns in that area.

Since I had most of the car gutted, I pulled all the monsoon wiring from front to back out of the loom, that amp wire went right into that same loom running down the length of the car and into the trunk.

uhm 6ga? really? i have a 00 awg wire running through mine lol if you can get the 6ga though it just quit lol jk. You should be able to just fine, and it will be under the brake booster, easier to push it from inside the car in to the engine bay.

lol you would be......the other problem i found was getting to the rubber block from under the car, seemed to be a tight area to work in. so i opted for my way.

i think i spent more time debating with my self about going through the rubber block then i took drilling and dropping the wire from up top. it was very easy to do. i was hoping there would be only one panel to get through, (got lucky) fed it in, and it hit the floor. my brothers like "I SEE IT!" The rest is history.

I tried getting my wire through that grommet for over an hour. Finally I lost my temper (which rarely happens), grabbed the drill, and made my own hole through the firewall. Ended up narrowly missing a wire loom. What is the secret to getting it through? I even tried a small copper wire and it only went in a little less than an inch and then it stopped up. Is it possible that some cars (2000) dont allow for this?

I used a large pick to make a hole, then fed in the shifter cable I use for routing stuff and taped the power wire to it. Pulled it through. On others I've drilled a hole in the grommet.
