My 04's heated seat button's paint has officially decided that life is not worth living anymore. So I am able to find a new unit on gmpartsdirect, however it is the unit that is in the newer models with the digital temperature display versus my dials. Is it plug and play switch or not?

    Thanks!

Negative. The wire harness and the way the BCM controls it is all different.

You are pretty much stuck with the current one you have. Or find another thats the same as yours and swap it.

just swap out the button face, relatively easy to do.

Hmmm. Please tell me more. Does the unit have to come out of the dash?

Yes, remove ring around ignition switch, carefully, it just pries off, then remove center console bezel, grab from bottom and pull out and the whole surround sound come off rather easily, then remov screws that hold in the storage compartment, then the screws that hold in the HVAC controls remove controls and unplug then on back of controls remove 4 small hex nead bolts and carefully remove face plate, remove ant knobs that turn and the faceplate should come off then on bottom of facplate you will see some small slots these hold the button s in with a little prying and patience you can remove and replace the buttons, then reassemble in the reverse order of disassembly. Now would be a good time to replace any burnt out bulbs you may have too, they are soldered in.

Nice. Thanks man. Here's another question for you. When you push the heated seat switch, the LED's light up and the seat works, however after a couple of minutes the lights turn out. The heated seat stays ON though? I thought maybe an element in the seat, but the seat wouldn't stay working if that is the case would it? Ugh. I hate electric problems. Lol.
