Hey now, w7s are awesome sq subs. Personally though, I'd go ssa. I'm also apparently one of the few here that has had excellent results using kicker.

One still slow and loud... other one scoots just a bit.

Your looking for sound quality and people are pointing you in the complete wrong direction.

For starters all the new RE stuff is sloppy to say the least. The old RE stuff was SQL stuff at best.

When I hear sound quality I think of brands like Boston Acoustics, JL, Focal, and Dayton.

Now to the actual point. You can make just about any sub sound good or be loud with the right box. I've seen Walmart subs stomp on $300-$400 subs in a better designed and build box.

Your best bet is to pick a sub that you like and do a custom setup in it. You don't need a ungodly amount of power most SQ systems I've seen have 1000 watts or less to the sub(s).

If your looking for sound quality just do it in a sealed box built to RE spec on alpine 1000 or 500 watt.

The JL depending on the model would give you good SQ and would give you the added bump you are looking for. The w6 or w7 would be the best if you want loud and SQ all in 1.

I've ran digital designs, but just the 9518s. I loved them, but for the SQ aspect it wasn't anything near what you are looking for.

The price hurts a bit too. Lol

Ascendant audio has good SQL subs. I ran the mayhem 18s and was very happy with them. They have been the best sounding subs I've had to date for 18s. I can only imagine the 12 or 15. Would be nasty loud and amazing quality I bet.

Yes and no to the subjective thing. Yes alot of it is personal preference but true SQ is based off of covering all the frequencies cleanly.

I'd say a fi q in a sealed enclosure covers a broad range of frequencies cleanly.

It's a lot more difficult to get a ported enclosure to sound right then a sealed. In theory the ported can out perform sealed if properly designed, but it is much more difficult and takes a lot of calculation and trial and error. A sealed enclosure (as long as the sub is designed to perform well sealed) is more of a "sure thing" when it comes to sq.
