Anyone know off hand how to program a key fob for an 04 grand prix gt? Ive tried finding instructions online but ive seen a bunch of different ways and none are specific for the 04+ Grand prix. Ive also seen some things saying it wont work unless you have the factory stereo? I just put an aftermarket stereo in mine yesterday.

Thats what ive heard but my dad did his 04 bonneville himself a few years ago, and i dont see why theyd be different

To my knowledge you need a Tech 2 scanner, so dealership or a shop that has one and knows how to do it.

hm they aren't like 9703 cars where you just pull a fuse and hold some buttons and viola?

I believe the 04+ are different cause of the bcm's and such

Yeah, they are completely differnet, bcm, dic, the whole works.

interesting. well Chris. idk if you have access to the gm service manual but that would give you the information you need, be it a how to or just get an idea of HOW it works.

well that sucks. I just realized a friend of mine has a tech 2 scanner and programmed a someones 07 grand prix key fobs a while ago. I thought it was just cause he didnt know the manual way. but maybe its because thats the only way.

I believe it's the only way, if he has it, then use it!
