Ive done lots of looking around and cant find an answer anywhere, this really has me aggrevated

I bought an 04 Grand prix yesterday. and decided to install my touch screen jenson stereo ive had sitting around for a while in it. I bought the dash kit and scosche GM2000 wiring kit/interface. Wired it up like ive done every other stereo ive installed and the stereo works fine. I got everything put back together and the car would start but die right away. I finally got it to run and all the gauges stopped working, and i kept getting different warnings for the charging system and other random stuff showing up on the screen on the dash. and then my blower motor randomly stopped working while i was driving it. I went home, put the stock stereo back in it and everything works fine now.

The only odd thing i noticed when wiring the stereo is theres an orange wire that comes out of the interface that i didnt have wired to anything. Could that be the issue? I dont have Onstar, or monsoon stereo system

Your problem is that scosche crap. They ALL cause data communication issues. Get it out of there.

Just hook the red accesory wire from your aftermarket radio to the wiper fuse..I believe they stay powered during RAP..I'd have to double check but either way its an easy place to grab for an accessory

Ive heard theyre crappy but ive never seen them not work. my dad just used one in his 2012 impala and it works great. Your saying skip the whole interface and just use the wire harness like the older cars use? I have no problem with losing door chimes but will anything else not work?

In your case just the chimes would be gone. And yes use the regular harness. Just hook the red to the wiper fuse because it will go nowhere on the otherside of the plug. Ive literally replaced (with axxess) or removed half a dozen scosche modules in the last month. Negative Effects vary from vehicle to vehicle.

Wow. surprising theyre still selling them as working for these cars. So everything besides chimes will still work? DIC still will work fine?

I did that, lost the date on the DIC but everything else works fine now. found out the blower motor issue turned out to be a loose connection on the blower motor plug
