Well knowing how much I liked this car it was only a matter of time before the first issue .

Just noticed on my way to work the headlights and dash light were just randomly flickering. Also did it ( even more noticeable ) while shifting it from drive to park, actually whenever you moved the shifter at all. The battery voltage when running kinda bounces from 14-15 volts and 13-14 when at a stop.

I'm just about to install an aftermarket radio and amplifier so the last thing I want is electrical issues. Has anyone heard of this issue before?? Thanks

Yup. GM cheap ground wires seem to cause a issue. First thing you could do is order a voltage booster from Zzp then you could do a big 3 upgrade to the wiring and replace it with something beefier (I use 4 gauge) do a search on here should be a write up somewhere.

There is a bunch of corrosion on the positive battery terminal , enough that I can't even see the battery post. So that's my first step is to soak it in baking soda. Then check the grounds. I was gonna do the big 3 anyways due to having 120 amps of current being pulled under load. Probably the best easy upgrade you can do IMO. I was also told that the headlight switch on the steering column has caused these same issues. ???

It could be a bad ground somewhere. Not an uncommon problem. Check the grounds at the battery and make sure the ground running to the frame is secure and well attached to the car

Dont do that. Just find the bad ground or bad/loose wire/short.

The engine bay is clean as can be, , there seem to be no loose grounds, or corrosion from what I see, other than this....

Definitely get a new battery. As for the charging light, I've never seen it come on with a dead battery. Only when the alt is not doing it's job. I went through 3 alternators before I finally got a good one. It's worth the time to have it tested before you ruin a brand new battery.

03 GTP...Its got pulleys and stuff.

lol that it did!actually , I needed a battery today, the terminal was so bad it was falling off the battery.. SO after reviews, on Interstate, Die hard and Napa ,.. What do I get ? A new ACDelco.. 750cca 120 RC, which is about as good as it gets before gong to a AGM.. It was $120 which was probably the least I ever spent at a stealership

Yup. So far so good. My voltage is hanging from 14-15 depending on what accessories I have on but more importantly isn't bouncing from 13-16 volts every 3 seconds still gonna get the alt checked and do the big 3 tho. If the alt is bad it's a good time for a Mechman 170 amp, if not at least I have some extra Christmas cash

I had a problem with the "charging system failure" popping up and all it seemed to be was that the negative terminal on the batter loosened and wasn't getting enough juice with my system and hids.
