Depends on what kind of radio is installed.

No. But they make some amps that have a thing that you splice to the factory speakers wires and it plugs into the amp, this isn't the best way of doing it but if you have a factory deck its the only way to really doing it that I remember.

That is by far the worst way of doing it. Just swap you deck out or leave it stock. When you put that converter box in it sucks power from you speakers to give power to the amp. You also have to find a way to place the remote wire. When you hook to the speakers it starves your amp for power which is horrible for it.

Thats a high level input. You'd want to go with a LOC and some RCA's if you plan on keeping the stock deck for a while. But it's gonna sound like chit if you're looking for any kind of sound quality. The bass is gonna sound loud at low volumes and weak at high volumes. It'd be best to go with an aftermarket deck so you can control the subs separately.

I agree lose the stock deck buy a aftermarket deck, gm stereo harness($5.99) make sure to connect the pink wire from the small red harness to the remote wire (blue/white), gm antenna adapter($4.99, mounting kit ($10) from ZZPerformance. Replace the speakers to, it will sound so much better. I put a Alpine deck with 3 RCA preouts, 240 watt 3-way 6.5" Kenwood in the front, 270 watt 3-way 6x9 Pioneer in the back connected to a 600 watt 4-ch Kenwood amp, 140 watt 2-way 4" Alpine type S to the stock bose amp and two 12" subs wired in series bridged to a 1000 watt Kenwood amp, Big 3 upgrade, 2000 watt 2 farad capacitor, it sounds great I love it, my brother-in-law can't stop talking about how he wants to do the same to he's GP. I agree with new deck install. If u wanted to keep the deck stock u would have to use line output converter. I've used em before and they definitely don't have the best sound quality. For the remote on switch a 12 volt source and a cheap on off circuit switch from parts store under ur dash or something. Its simple. I have something similar for my auxiliary in adapter

You can also buy a steering wheel control adapter where you can use your steering wheel to still be functional with the after market deck.

Honestly if you haven't had much personal experience with car audio installation I'd advise finding a reputable local installer.

If you are willing to tackle it yourself, check for compatibility with the stereo you install.

    https://www.amazon.com/PAC-SWI-PS-In.../dp/B001EAWNVY

I used the PAC-SWI and retained the use of my stereo controls. You need to make sure that the new headunit has a wired remote plug in the back. 99% of new headunits will have this feature by default. The only other step was splicing into one wire on the factory harness with The PAC interface. The unit self programmed for me and installed in less than 15 minutes.
