Hi, been lurking but not posting.

My wife has a 2007 GP GT with Monsoon. We have used FM converters and a wired adapter for an aux input and didn't like either.

I am wondering if anyone knows of a later Pontiac radio with an aux input that would bolt in and look factory stock, we do not want to add an aftermarket radio.

I haven't had any luck, but hoping someone has an idea. We don't need to charge an Ipod or anything, just easily plug it in.

    Thanks in advance

There is no grand prix radio with a built in aux. No radio that will fit from another vehicle. Basically ur only option is wiring in an aux input and using the xm as the input source. There is a write up that explains it if u search for it. Otherwise your sol.

Thanks, I have an AUX box in there and it worked great, but I was unable to find an easy switched power source for it. Per the instructions, I wired it with a constant 12V source, and it would kill the battery over a weekend. Frustrated, I just cut the power wire and it's still in there.

Any ideas of an easy place to grab switched power?

You don't need power for an Aux input.

But easiest place for someone who knows little about where to get ignition just use the wiper fuse.

This box absolutely requires power. It plugs into the XM input and allows use of the XM or the Aux input, it came from Crutchfield.

As far as knowing little, I am a 20+ year mechanic and car restoration guy, the issue isn't being able to hack into a harness. Hell my toy is a 70 Mustang with a 489 inch motor with full Ford SEFI and real time laptop interface.

I could have hacked into the harness to the radio, but I didn't like the very small gauge wire and preferred not to put additional load on it, nor did I want to cut into a tight harness on such a nice car. Not to mention, as I said earlier the instruction said to run constant 12V. I was hoping there was a decent feed that people commonly used under the dash.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find a switched feed anywhere close to the radio/heater stack or console other than the radio itself. I'll look at the fuse panel again and see if I can do something neat. It's been a year, I don't really remember why I didn't tie into the fuse panel, there must have been a reason. I don't particularly like the box, but it is mounted in there and did work well.

I saw the option of cutting into the XM harness, and it is clever.

I may also see if any of the custom radio guys can add something directly to the radio. It would be much cleaner.

Check this out, this is pretty clean

Pontiac CD 6-Disc Radio With AUX input [PO007] : Factory Radio Service, Car Factory Radio Services

For 60 bucks, it'd be a very nice alternative and wouldn't require cutting any harness. I emailed him for a picture without the plug in the face. If it doesn't look half-a$$ed it may be an option

Check out pac audio. They make an adapter that I'm using now with the monsoon and it works perfect.
