Hey guys I've had my 05 GTP Comp G for about a month now and am looking to get an alarm with remote start for it. I've always heard great things online and from friends about Viper and am leaning towards either the 5704 or the 5904. I want to get it off of amazon to save some money and I think it would be fun to do myself, but I have a couple questions about it. First, how hard is it to install one yourself? I'm an electrician by trade and have done some work with cars so I'm fairly confident I can do it myself. Second, what all do I need besides the alarm itself? I went in to Best Buy to see how much they would charge me to have it installed there and it was going to be over $300. The guy also said I would need a bypass module and possibly another to keep and actual key inside the car. He said they used an FLCAN for the bypass and a 556u as the other module. He also said that for my year of car about half of them needed the 556u and the other half didn't, but there was no way of knowing if my car needed it until you get into the install. I'm also wanting to get a glass break sensor, tilt sensor and possibly the battery back up. Third, where can I get the wiring diagrams for everything I need? Thanks in advance for your help.

The12volt.com has the wiring diagrams for the car side of things. Viper stuff can be a pain because they really give you almost no information. They have an awesome website that tells you everything if you are an authorized installer..but when you are doing it on your own..you get crap.

I did my own Viper 5901 and it went well. I have the actual GM service manuals on my car which tells me every wire, pin, connector...you get the idea. Coupled that with the12volt info, plus the sheet that came with teh Viper (very basic) and a buddy that used to do alarms, it went well.

Can't comment on the security bypass stuff. My car is much older and I simply soldered a resistor to the bcm as I couldnt' care if someone really wants to steal my car.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Thanks for the info. Does anyone else have experieappreciate Viper alarms that would be able to help me out with the bypass modules? That is the part that I'm having the hardest time with and some help would be greatly appreciated.
