So I bought new Pioneer 3 Way TS-A6964R speakers for my rear deck. Taking out the stock speakers I found 4 clips. What I decided to do was connect 2 of the clips together at the speaker, so I could just clip it back into the existing wires.

The speakers work, but they sound like a bag of crap. The sound cracked. I brought them back to Best Buy and put the new ones back in, but they sound even worse. It's pretty awful. Any advice? Or am I just screwed?

I have an aftermarket head unit, the Pioneer DEH-P5000, and have only had small problems. It shuts off from time to time, and before I replaced the bad ballast, it would shut off whenever I turned on my HID's.
