Im having trouble getting my new steering wheel control deal to automatically pick up on my radio and car. Ive hooked up the correct wires and havent had any luck. I have a 2000 grand prix and a new sony deck. I will get you the specific model number for the deck later.

Has anyone else had this problem???

Nope. I have a 2000 GTP with an Axxess and Kenwood deck. Did you splice in the wire that comes directly from the harness? There is a wire I forgot what color that you have to cut before it reaches the main harness and splices directly to the axxess.

The wires specified in the instruction manual that came with my ASWC were completely wrong, double check with this: http://contentdocs.installernet.com/...icle/10922.pdf Installation guide for a 2000 GP.

If all of that is correct, also make sure the turn on lead you're connecting it to truely has voltage coming through it when your car is in ACC or ON.

I did splice it and it is a blue wire from the origional harness but there was a green wire that connects to nothing so i was slightly confused by that.

I will give it another shot after i check for voltage. Thanks for that tip!

Hi, new to the forum and GPs. Just bought an 02 GT a couple months ago. I ordered a Pioneer head unit from crutchfield and the axxess interface from ebay. I am having the same problem. Hooked up Green/Orange wire out of pin 3 on axxes to pin 14 dark blue wire on car harness and it wont program

Did you get this to work?

May want to post over on this forum, it's a forum where car audio/alarm/remote start installers hang out and help each other with stuff like this.

Wire should be green, not blue. Check out various things like the wiring on the12volt.com etc. wire color and pin should be there.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Never did get it to work. I just got fed up with it and threw it in a box and tossed it upstairs in my place. Maybe when I go to hook up my sub next spring I will attempt again. Sorry I can't help you.

    Ok, got it figured out.
The problem was that I received a newer unit with old directions. The directions say to connect the orange and green wire to pin 14 on the car. On this unit, that wire was deleted and it is now the yellow/green wire that needs to be connected to the car. I hooked this up and it immediately found the car and programmed itself with out touching any buttons or doing anything, only problem is that my cd player stopped working. turns out that my head unit is to modern for this aswc, so i need to send it to the company, or take it in to a local dealer and have it flashed with the newest firmware for it to work properly.

maybe this will help you out burgendybullet. If you uswc has the yellow/green wire instead of the orange/green. that is the one that needs to be hooked up.

It might. I'd have to check. Sounds like it could very well be the problem. I sure hope its that easy! I will forever be happy. Is all you lost was the CD player? if thats the case mine will be fine because I only listen to music on flashdrives now. So easy to switch 4 flash drives with different kinds of music than to rummage through CD cases.

Yes, all I lost was the CD player. I wouldnt be worried about loosing that, but every now and then I buy a new CD and want to listen to it on the way home, before it gets ripped to my flash drive. You might not loose yours, because the head unit i purchased was just released very recently.

I just bought it last week, but I bought it off ebay so who knows how old it is. It sounds like they might have changed that wire quite a while ago and the directions being corrected are still a work in progress.... lol

Just thought that I'd post here and let everyone know that I finally got mine working after having it 2years and 2 months. It was the orange/ green wire that hooked directly to the blue wire coming from the car. It recognized the car and radio but wouldnt allow me to use the controls on the wheel so after a couple tries I got it to work. Not sure why I never got it figured out sooner.

Just hoping the 12in subs I got dont take that long to get working!

Only reason I attempted it again was because I had to pull the car apart to get the head unit out to disconnect my rca cable and remote wire for the amp for the 10in I had to take out and to put all the new wiring in. Super pumped that it works! (Although I will probably forget about it and never use it anyway)
