i wouldnt say new alternator, you probably just need a capicitor on your battery dude...it holds volts so when your system hits, it pulls from the Cap and doesnt dim your lights.....or you could go alittle more expensive way and get one of those smaller batteries in your trunk...but the Capicitor should do the trick![]()
That's what I would suggest. Go for the cap. I blew my alt out with a system and lights still dimmed with the new one.
yea im gettin one this friday if i have the money its bad enough it shuts my radio off sometimes
Yea, I hate that. Could never figure out why it does. Only with the aftermarket deck.
I have never had a radio shut off because of amp draw lol. stock ignition with a kicker ZR1000 running 2 ohm stereo on 2 12" kicker CVX's and a ZR600 running at 4 ohms on 2 infinity 6x9's in rear and 2 infinity 4x6's up front. Had that amp turned all the way down lol..Lights dimmed very bad and battery drained to 9 volts all the time but I guess you need to know when to turn it off. Never cared much for class D Amps but I think i'm going to get a kicker ZX 2500.1 and try that one out. I've always been a Kicker fan. But there are many good companies out there I havent tried yet
I don't know what makes it do it. Mine might be different from what he's talking about. Even if I have just my aftermarket deck and no amps, when I open the door sometimes, it'll kill the radio for a split second. Has done it sense day one of having the system. Rewired it and the same thing. I have it going into the factory harness. Haven't tried to wire it up without that. It don't bother me so I just leave it alone.
If you decide to upgrade your alternator look up Dominic Iraggi. He's out of Nashville but his alternators are well known around the audio scene. He can do everything from small upgrade to 20volt adjustable. Iraggi alternators is the name I would google.
