Ok so my 07 GP base has a problem of the Hi beam turning on when i use the turn signals. This has been going on since last summer, we just took out the hi beam bulbs since we dont really need em. Now we want to fix it so we can use the hi beam, but not the Hi beam just stays on at night and turns off when i gently pull the stick forward towards me but when i let go it turns back on and stays on. Before we just tapped the stick inward into where its plugged in and it would turn off but when i use the turn signal again it would turn back on again. We took off the bulbs since it would look like we were signaling other people, now we kind want to use them again so what is really wrong with it? Is it the multifunction switch or what, also how do we take it out, do we just unscrew the top and bottom and take it out then unplug the switch? We want to clean it and could that help possibly solve the problem?

    Thanks in Advance

(I posted this exact same thread in the General Discussion section and i read the guidelines sticky and found out its not to be there so i put it here. If someone can delete the other one would be great, thanks)

new multi switch time, the plastic around the wheel needs to come off, maybe even the wheel its self, not sure, if it does its only to get the plastic off around the column. un screw it, unplug it.

So pretty much unscrew the top part where the E lights button is and then bellow it too and just snap em off. Then take out the switch install new one and put snap the two plastics back on then screw it and done? Sounds simple but correct me if im wrong here

im not familiar with the 07 gp at all. look for small screw holes with bolts or torx heads in them. (on the bottom side) then gently figure out whats clipped where and how to undo it.

some one who has done this before may chime in, so maybe wait for better details. i did dive into my regal's column blind, wasn't to bad.

Ok ya ill see if anyone else can help me further, thanks for the help bro.

BTW i called the dealer and the guy says that i cant take it out cause i dont have their "special tool" for taking out the wheel and airbags then taking out the thing and getting to the switch. Ya then this guy tells me who moved so i cant ask him again that all we do is take of the top and bottom plastic things using L wrench key then snapping it off. So does anyone else think this is right?

i would try not to snap off anything lol.

not sure how your airbag comes off, but the after you get it off, its all gravy from there. you need a small 2 gear puller. like this. to get the wheel off after you unbolt it. dont beat on it, it wont help. you need a puller.

try youtube for a vid to help with the airbag, (thats how i figured out how to get my regals airbag off) always unhook your battery when dealing with the airbag.

some you may have and some you may not, but my regal's deal was a clock spring, and the plastic wraps around and flairs up to a smaller circle that the wheel fit over tight. so im thinking the column plastic wont come off with out the wheel coming off.

found this, my 03 gmc airbag came off like this, newer cars maybe the same.

Oh yea and forgot to mention that the Multifunction switch i found on amazon is one W/Fog switch. will that one still fit in our car? Our fogs are relayed with the parking lamps so i dont think that switch will work but will the rest and will it fit right in? Thanks again

i would get the right one, other stuff may not work right, or worse the plug may be different.

on the bright side, if it don't work, the second time you open it up you'll know how to get in and it will take 1/2 the time to do lol

Ok i really i cant find a Headlight switch/ multifunction switch or whatever you call em for a good price anywhere besides amazon. The one on amazon is one with the Fog light switch on it. If my original one was W/O the Fog light switch, will this switch fit into my GP and work? I wont be able to use the fog light switch but as long as i can use the rest.

try morads ebay store, they should have the right one for you, if you get one that does more or less than the one you have it may not work properly. or may not even plug in.

you'll hate me for this but i got a whole steering column airbag to intermediate shaft with a key in the ignition for 20 buck lol, i now have a spare everything. i used the wheel and air bag, clock spring and intermediate shaft off it so far. only wanted the wheel and bag but got it all lol

check craigslist for local part outs, (part outs here) i found a boat load of good cheap parts like that so far. and from a few members here as well.

Very nice deal bro, and very cheap lol. Ya ill check it out thanks for info bro, BTW i got Hid low beams and Hid fogs relayed to my parking lamps. Do you know if the high beam, once we put the bulbs back on with the new switch, will turn off the fogs if we turn on the HI beam? OR if the battery can handle all those lights? Got LED switchbacks for the turns too.
