Custom Subwoofer Enclosure

Hey guys, as some of you know i just finished installing a new head unit along with dual 12" sub woofers. I got the subs for free from a friend and each came with its own single box. i am wanting to build a custom fit box for both subs to make it look nicer. has anyone done this and have some specs?

also the subs i have now say that the optimum volume is 1.5 cubic feet, but at some point i plan on probably replacing them, i was looking at the subs probably in the price range i would be and 95% of them say 1.25 cubic feet, should i make the box at 1.25 to plan for the future? or should i make it 1.5 for now and make a new box when the time comes? or would using the old box with new ones be that bad?

Make the box 1.25 and use poly fill to slow down the sound waves and create the illusion of using a bigger box.

would I then remove the polyfill when I upgrade?? I also read car audio polyfill is really expensive but you can go to walmarts craft section and get it real cheap and they're the same thing is this true?

Yup. Otherwise the enclosure would be "too big." And yes the Walmart stuff is the same. Just less expensive.

just fill up the box, not to much so it gets in the sub.

I personally would build separate boxes... especially since you have not decided on what subs your upgrading to. As far as polyfill goes i have used the stuff in a truck build we did and it does work. However you should do your research on it before just throwing it in because you can over stuff... here is a link that should help if you decide to go the poly-fill route, GlassWolf's Pages.

1 lb per cuft..... Also make sure u pull it apart b4 putting into the box. Baseball or softball size chunks is good.

if anything ill understuff pollyfill to be on the safe side of things...
