I'll bet they wired in the stock radio ( in the trunk) and that is how you retained the date on your DIC. That's the only way I know how to do that, but you should have retained chimes also. I really would like to know how it was done.

I just don't really like things half assed and even though the chimes are annoying if thy aren't working then it's a half assed job to me
Well you really only got 2 options then... do what simbah said and wire the factory hu in the trunk. Or just keep the factory head unit. Even when you use one of the interfaces, you lose something (date in dic). Also, the interface uses its own chimes, and it sounds crappy... deffinately doesn't sound like its supposed to. What is the reason you want a new head unit.. for subs, aux input, or something else.
Getting a touchscreen. they make the inside so much nicer for one and yea I'm getting all new audio. How do you wire the factory stereo in the trunk?
Its just a long ass, thick harness that you run to your trunk. Then plug in the factory radio and find a nice place to hide it. I usually made a box out of 1/4" MDF and carpet, or just bolted it to the rear deck lid.
I sold my factory radio and amp....so I know its not that. Ill call him Monday and find out.
When you lose the date on the DIC, what is displayed... just the temp and compass?
--------- is displayed in place of the date
I have it set to display my milage
