I have a base model 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix which has the regular radio 1 disc cd w/ am/fm. Was wondering if it would be possible to install a Monsoon 6 Disc CD Player with XM Radio? Also if it matters both cars have Onstar.

Is this possible to do? Will I have issues with my car not having the monsoon amp & not previously having XM Radio? Is the harness the same?

Harness is the same, it will bolt right up and plug right in.

GM (or some other dealer/mechanic) will have to use a tech2 to match the vin on the stereo to yours, its a security thing GM did.

The XM may be a bit of an issue, I'm not sure how you would subscribe to it...

It can be done just make sure the new radio has the BAND button and not the AM/FM button and you will also need this

    Sirius-XM SIRGM1 Satellite Tuners at Onlinecarstereo.com

I know its Sirius and not XM but they are the same thing,
The dealer will charge you about $100 to program the radio

I'm pretty sure that you'll need to get a monsoon amp as well. I think the monsoon head unit has a lower output level because of the amp.

That has nothing to do with it. The headunit will work just fine.

Your right it will work but it's going to have a much lower sound output.
