i've been running a set of HIDs for ~2 years then suddenly recently when i turn them on the 20amp fuse blows out on me? after testing about 5 20amp fuses i realize that when i connect the passenger side blue connector to the bulb and then turn my lights on it causes the fuse to blow. i checked all of the wiring on the HID kit. i swapped the relay and verified the ground wire solidly connected to the chassis. the power is connected to a quick connect off the battery. could it be a bad ballast or stock headlight wiring? i swapped the hids out and put back in my halogen bulbs and they power on fine(hi/low beam). FWIW the HID kit i have is HID low and halogen hi where the halogens worked fine when i switch to hi-beam, but wont turn on the HIDs when reverting back to low beam.

Swap your ballasts around and if it pops the fuse on the other side then your ballast is bad.

Both ballast goes to one fuse holder

No they don't dread.... the relay harness that he has connects the power for both ballasts through one fused power line. There's no side difference. That being said, since you have one bulb you think is causing the problem, swap the bulbs from side to side and plug in only the one bulb that is blowing the fuse to the other ballast, if it blows, get another bulb, if it doesn't, get a new ballast.

I was talking about the fuse block under the hood. But I see what you are saying.

Ahh, gotcha. Yea the relay harness bypasses that altogether. It just uses the power from the car as a relay trigger so there's like no load on it.

ok i'll swap the bulbs around and see if the driver side would blow the fuse or not. would the bulb do this or rather a bad ballast?

For the costs of HID kits these days, I would probably just get another kit rather than replacing things individually. $50 for headlights every ~2 years isn't a bad deal in my opinion, plus then you wouldn't have to keep trying to chase the problem.

You may want to check your headlights grounds, just in case those are part of the problem.

Before you buy a new set check for a short. Maybe a wire rubbed against the body and shorted out. I've had it happen a couple times on GP's.
