So finally decided to go ahead with the switch of my factory radio with Pioneer DEH-3300UB from Best Buy. Got the harness and the install plastic pieces from e-bay. After hookup, unit would not power up. I tracked the problem down to ignition wire on the harness in fact has no power. I could have tapped into the fuse box, but didn't want to mess with it so, I ran the wire from the constant on to the power to the unit as well. Downside it that the radio will not turn off when you turn the car off, so you just manually have to shut it down. This particular model completely shuts off, so there's no battery drain.
Here's whats good - Sound is excellent. It plays straight from the USB and not that many people care, but the deck displays cyrillic characters during playback. Remote control is included and works great. Deck has removable face plate and looks great in the dash. Color matches the red on on the rest of the instrumentation, even though it is a bit too bright (but not nearly as annoying as the blue decks).
Here's what you'll loose - door chimes (never cared for them anyway). OnStar - same thing -who cares. And you will loose your date readout on your DIC which will be replaced by the "---------- --". And that's about it. Overall I am satisfied with the replacement. I'll give you a long term update in a few months. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
