pioneer does make world class spl equipment. spl= sound pressure level in terms means how loud, now sq= sound quality. i would rather much more prefer sq over spl who cares how loud when u cant understand a darn thing. pioneer does make some good things but as far as sound quality they just are not that great. yes they make sound loud sound but for the price he an you can do alot better esp on amazon hell even sonicelectronix but im just saying im by no means a god of audio but i do all research before i put anything in my car an price is a must along w/ sq an design just a thought for help friend trust me u will be happy in the end unless your friend just wanna be insanely loud lol

yep same as sundown, basically the 3k is a sundown 3k at half the price
