Those are just my issues from using iPod in the past. I hate that I hit "random" and the same songs play in the same exact order all day everyday!!!!

Personaly i would go with the Kenwood-KIV-701 its basically the same headunit but u get a color display instead of the ugly text that comes on the X995. You do lose the built in Bluetooth and HDradio. I think HDradio is kind of a gimic anyway but if u want want it. This headunit is compatible with both so u can always get the HDradio or Bluetooth adapters for it.

If you want cheaper...the KDC-BT948HD has a 3 band parametric EQ and not much else is different vs. the 995.

Kenwood KDC BT948HD Radio / HD radio / CD / MP3 player / digital player

You'll need a PAC SWI-X to reprogram your steering wheel controls. I doubt you find it cheaper than here. I just set mine up last week. PITA but worth it.

How hard was it to wire/program ur steering wheel control JGTP? Mine programed itself but i have problems with things like the play button controlling volume down for some reason. Thinking about getting a new one.

I saw that it didn't have a cd player and I'm ok with that. I don't own any CDs anyways lol. I really like that kiv701. Should I get that?

You only need to hook up 3 wires, so that part isn't bad. My biggest problem was that I spliced into the wrong wire twice. Then I realized that the instructions I was using were meant for an 04+ GP which has a different wiring harness than 97-03. Derp.

After finding the correct wire, programming the unit was frustrating. You're watching for various flashing lights as you go through the steps and if you make a mistake, you have to start over from the beginning. I almost rage quit a couple times, but eventually I got it programmed the way I wanted.

I was looking around for a write-up on installing it, but couldn't find one GP-specific. Since my interior is still in pieces, I may make one with some pictures for those like me that get a bit overwhelmed with the clusterf*ck of wires in there.

    ^^
Ya mine was a little easier. I just had to wire it up and as long as i did that right it programs itself. Which is nice sept for when it forgets what buttons do what. Guess i need to talk to teck-support lol.

Its up to you i think it is a good headunit. Was thinking about upgrading to this unit form the Alpine unit i already have. But its up to u. Do as much research as u can until u feel satisfied that its the right one for u.

BTW: I think u mentioned something about some of ur speakers sounding like they r blown. If that is the case they well sound terrible with an aftermarket unit too. So i would replace the blow speakers before u even think about buying the head unit.

I thought it was always head unit first, then new speakers?

I have a CDA-117 and PXA-H100 on order if you ever want my opinion on that deck. I don't think it'll come in until the first week of October if you're waiting on my review though.
