    Hello,

I have a 98 grand prix gt 8 speaker system. I have 2 tweeters in front, 2 5 1/4 in front, 2 6x9 in back and 2 4in in back. I would like to upgrade them because they are all sounding pretty bad as of lately I had to disconect 1 6x9 and 1 4in in back already due to them sounding so bad .

I was looking into upgrading to alpine speakers I have read very good things about them. First question should I upgrade all 8 speakers? So far I have found these Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. - SPR-69C for the 6x9's and I haven't found anything for the front yet. I am told though also that the 6x9's in the back produce only bass so I am not sure if I should spend all that money on them? If anyone could answer some of them questions and maybe some links to good apline speakers that I could use to replace my stock ones that'd be awesome! BTW I love bass if that helps in picking out any speakers haha. Thank you!

If your setup is like mine the 6X9's in the rear deck are being used for your subs. The rest of the speakers in the car are your mid range and high range speakers. All mine are ran by an amplifier mounted on the rear deck.
I like lots of bass so I have decided to replace the whole system. You have to decide how much bass you want and how radical you want to get.
The least expensive would be to replace your speakers and keep your current radio and amp. I would suggest a basic 6X9 two way and just disconnect the tweeter. Brand is just a personal preference once you get to a certain level. (Alpine, Pioneer, Keenwood ect...) The smaller speakers need to be as efficient as possible because the amp isn't that powerfull OR you could just take my path...JERK IT ALL OUT. Big amps big speakers.

replacing all the speakers will make a world of difference, Alpine is good stuff, stock amps are underpowered (last one we bench tested maxed out at a total of 10 watts using standard measurements with low distortion) put in a set of tweeters it will help the staging some (as well as clear up your midrange speakers) if you want bass add a sub or 2 (or 6 if you really want to do it)

There are different levels in just about any brand. I've always hadgood luck out of Alpine head units, Fosgate amps, MB Quart seperates and have tried hundreds of different subs.

not as varied as kenwood has, they have a cheap pyramid type line, the regular decent stuff, and the excelon stuff that is really good. I personally hate alpine head units, too complicated an interface, and too expensive for what they are (although the quality is very good)

Sorry forgot to mention I already have a sub & mono amp hooked up for sometime now. I am just looking to replace all of the speakers. Can I get any links to recomendations for the 6x9's in the back. I know they only produce bass that is why I am having a hard time choosing.

One bad thing about using the stock radio and amp is that at higher levels it automaticaly reduces the bass output. This is to save the factory speakers.

Probably around $200. If that will only get me a good pair of 6x9's then ok if you know of good speakers that I could replace some more IE: 5 1/4's and 6x9's that'd be good too. I don't want junk speakers lol.

well i figure with taxes "atleast at best buy" 109 for a nice set of 6x9's and for 5.25's about 99 bucks for a nice set plus tax so around 230 ish? but im sure interenet sales would be cheaper but then again factor in shipping =[ good luck and have fun =]
