Ok my old headunit took a dump went out and got a new one. Now this new one will not power on unless I hook up the power wire(red) and constant 12v (yellow) on the stereo to the constant 12v coming out of the wiring harness.

There is no power coming out of the power wire on the wiring harness.
Yet my old headunit worked just fine. Went out and got another wiring harness thought something shorted out. Nope the new wiring harness has the same problem.

So b4 I go out and spent the $180 on a good access gmos-100 harness that keeps everything. Was wondering what the problem could be. The first headunit I had was like 6 years old. Would that have something to do with it working and my new one not.

Year make and model would be very helpful to determine which setup you have in the car. Model and make of new headunit could be helpful too.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Simple solution is hook up to always-on 12V source. I believe that's the yellow wire?(somebody confirm that?) Add a switch in line and you don't have to deal with RAP. Otherwise, perhaps your aftermarket RAP isn't functioning correctly?

But, just like always...trial and error for troubleshooting. That means confirming that wiring is run properly as well as crimped/soldered correctly too.

yeh but if I hook it up to the constant 12v it will drain my battery it will be on non stop 24/7 365 never shut off. I was thinking about useing a fuse jump to hook it up to 12v off of a fuse of some sorts but I think im just gunna say f it and buy a good wireing harness

That's why I said throw a switch in line to that.

You can turn it off/on yourself.
