I really like what ive read about the FI Q 12" subwoofer but my question is should i build a sealed or ported encloser? Im not going for the loudest system i just want the sub to pick up a lot notes and sound good.

Ported and tune it low. It will not disappoint you. just make sure you set the subsonic within like 3-4hz of the tuning frequency or you will stress out the suspension and start to break stuff.

    lower if possible.

But it really depends on what you listen to.

I like to be able to hit 20 Hz with authority at the minimum.

Thats for the recommended box size.

I took a sub that had a recommended tune of 25-30 Hz and tuned it to 12.5 Hz. Was awesome.

So if i tuned it down to 22 Hz, i would sacrifice more of the high bass

    you'd sacrifice 30-35 Hz.

But since you're talking ported, you would be giving up stuff you dont need.

Sounds like you did it right the first time

Lots of people have their mid-bass pick up at 60hz any how. Wish I could have heard that.
    11 is louder than 10!
