Does anyone know if the 6.5 inch speakers would fit easily in to replace the 2002 gp stock door speakers? or is there a little cutting and whatever needed? yes i realize making a new box for it would be better, but i'm just asking in case i feel that the box isnt worth the effort.

Does anyone know if a 6.5" speaker will fit in the door panel to replace the stock 5.25"? this is without doing any kind of modification to the door, door panel, or door frame. Basically, will it fit the same way? or is it a case where no matter what some kind of mod to the door is necessary to make it fit?

From what i know there really isnt a way to fit them without some sort of modification.
you might be able to cut the plastic mount to make a 6.5 fit
I just ended up tossing it and screwing the speakers to the door. put foam pads between the screws to prevent rattle and spacers on one side to tilt them out like they are supposed to be. then just taped off the open space with soundproofing tape

Yes, they will fit the existing plastic mount. Most 6.5's have the holes for a 5.25 mount. You will probably have to grind some of the plastic along the top. I put 6.5's in both my 98 and 02. Here's a picture of my 6.5's.

I put 6.5's in my 01 gt, it wasn't too much work, I cut up the door panels a bit, ditched the plastic part entirely. I put foam between the speaker and the door which sealed it pretty good.

I got similar 6.5 speakers for my doors. I really like them they sound good. mine were the 300 watt version tho so those should sound even better

Did you have to hack up your door panel to make them fit ? Looks pretty easy to make them fit !

with the "mounting plastic thing" lol, all you would have to do is make the hole a little bit bigger to fit the speaker. if u dont use the mount and screw the speaker right to the door u just have to drill holes for it. either way its not too bad
