I use a kenwood X994 in a HUmount flushmount install kit with a custom ipod dock i made to fit in the cubby behind the shifter. Do it right and it almost looks like it couldve been a factory option. Best parts about the headunit are the multi color screen and buttons, bluetooth calls and streaming music, full ipod control or any usb device like a flash drive, and both the usb and the headphone input are in the back so you can make it even more stealthy. I was able to wire in a headphone input to the center console that also looks kindof stock. Plus the sq is incredible and it puts out an impressive amount of power. Keep in mind those are opinions

This one has a full 5 band equilizer, and itll support a usb HDD but it can only see a maximum of 256 folders in one device i think, im not sure if that will help or not. It also has the ability to do direct crossover from the headunit. So if u want to block certain lows or certain highs, and it also has settings for each speaker size and where its at door/dash/deck, as well as how far each one is in inches from the center of the car. I dunno if thats impressive or not. But being used to cheapo Dual stereos and the lower end Alpines i think its pretty impressive. The only issue i have is in the cold weather the screen transitions aren't as crisp but the second it warms up its back to normal.

I just have this little $30 FM transponder (hardwire transmitter) into my stock unit. Works great.
Re: What do you use to listen to your ipod?
I had a really fancy tape deck adapter that i used. Cheap and got the job done.
Re: What do you use to listen to your ipod?
FM transmitters are junk. You can get a tape deck out of a malibu and mount it under your dash then wire your headphone jack into that. Its a good way to keep your stock radio and be able to play your ipod.
Re: What do you use to listen to your ipod?
I did that thing were you buy a remote tape player form a malibu (97-00 Chevy Malibu Remote Cassette Tape Deck 98 99 2000 - eBay (item 400143221194 end time Feb-06-11 16:04:22 PST)), connect it directly to the stock radio and connect a headphone jack in the interface cable to cut in the tape audio signal and replace it with the ipod or whatever you want to plug in.
Sound quality is great, I wanted to buy an aftermarket radio, but there's almost nothing available in 1.5 din and I don't like the other solutions, I'd like to use a 2 din unit instead, but I don't have the skill or knowledge to do the necessary adaptations.

the cassette deck that I ordered had the wires included, I just had to extend them and add the headphone jack. But the ones suggested in the club gp write up work fine as well.
Just a tip if you're going to do this, don't put the deck in a place where you won't have easy access to it, it sometimes ejects the tape and displays an error. It's not a big deal it happens to me like once a week, all you have to do is turn the tape around and put it pack in, but it's going to be difficult if you place the deck where you can't reach it.
Re: What do you use to listen to your ipod?

I just plug my iphone in and I can play it on the touch screen just like an ipod. It charges it and I can also download the contact list and make calls from the touch screen as well.
