Now as for the headunits, the kenwood I posted has a lot better interface, way more features, 4 volt pre-outs... Overall if it was me i'd gladly spend the $50 or whatever it is to upgrade to that.
Thanks a lot for the help. I think I will spend that extra 50 and get the more expensive one. Maybe crutchfield will offer some deals on black friday so I'm holding out till then to make any purchases.

Back to the other question though, you were referring to the dual 2 ohm option in your post I'm guessing. Cause to the best of my understanding, if I did the dual 1 in parallel I would be at 0.5 ohms which obviously would not be good. I suppose I could wire the sub in series with the speakers, but that seems like more work than I want to get involved in at the moment. Would you suggest just going with the dual 2 option wired in parallel to the sub (which is stable at a 1 ohm load) for best sound? or does it even really make a huge difference? The amp is rated at 3200 rms at 1 ohm, 2500 at 2, and 1700 at 4, if that helps.

yes, I was referring to the dual 2 ohm voice coil option. It is 1 ohm stable I would say just go for that. Because if you upgrade to another sub down the road you will still be at no shortage for power. Some people say that it makes a difference, my opinon as long as you have clean power to the sub it will sound the same. I'm running my q15 on an aq 2200d at 1.4 ohms and it sounds great to me.

Also, I realized at 1 ohm, the amp is making way more power than is needed for my one sub...like 3x. is this ok? my general instinct says no.

haha then i'm really confused. because under RMS it says 3200 watts at 1 ohm. Where'd you get 1500 from?

Also, I'm hearing some bad things about this amp from other places. I almost feel like I might want to go with a different one. I guess I'll have to look around for a deal. Hopefully black friday will yield something.

turbotrav has one and does sound comps... i think thats all he got out of it.

look at it this way, it apparently draws 200 Amps at full tilt which means at 80% efficiency and 14.4 V you're looking at 2240 watts output MAXIMUM theoretical possible...

Now fused is generally not accurate for what it really draws so again.... look at what trav pulled off.

ok so pretty much the rating they have is full of **** haha? Anyhow, are there any other amps you'd recommend or do you think this will be fine? I mean, I hate settling for mediocre personally. The reason I bring this up is because upon google searching for this amp (the page you linked is out of stock) I came across a lot of very negative feedback. To the point where it made me second think my decision in buying it. You seem pretty knowledgeable about this stuff, so I trust your opinion on the whole, but I'd like to know any possible cons in getting this amp compared to something of better quality?

go with something like rockford fosgate then.

They all come with birth sheets.

    you'll pay for it though.

Alright thanks. I checked it out and the reviews for that seem very positive. Also I found some in the mid 300s rated at 1000 rms at 1 ohm. Hoping I might be able to find a little cheaper with some searching.

This was it by the way
    Rockford Fosgate T1000-1bd (09-t1000-1bd) - Sonic Electronix

Is that what you were referring to?

And also, since I'm somewhat car audio impaired, do you mind explaining to me what a birth sheet is (in the briefest way possible) and why this amp would be a better choice over the other? I'm just trying to understand what makes one amp better than another other than power.

Also, back on the subject of a high output alternator.... do you think my car may need one after adding another amp to speakers (that have yet to be determined). Or will capacitors and/or anything else do the trick? I'm just wondering when I might want to think about my vehicles power supply. Sorry for so many questions. Feel free to answer whenever its convenient.

its a sheet that shows what that exact amp can do.

you prolly wont need a HO alt... unless you really like it stupidly loud...

nah, I don't think I'll be doing anything outrageous. I was just making sure, because I've been told by several people that I should get one and I don't know myself, so I figured I'd ask. Should I get a cap though?

Good, we'll see how things go then. I guess I could always get one if I felt it would do any good.

Anyways, I'm probably getting the same head unit you got. How is it?

Also, does anyone know if my HUD will be affected by changing my head unit... i really hope not.

I love my headunit, the only thing you will loose on the HUD is the radio stations.

Just a little... 13 V is already low though.

Caps = do nothing. H.O. requires better grounding and you most likely don't need it.

Alright, now I just need to figure out front and rear speakers... i decided I'm gonna get them all at once because I won't be satisfied with the sound unless I do. I think I already got an amp picked out which is the JBL GTO1004. May decide to change it. Anyone know anything about this one though? Or any good deals on some good speakers. I want to get something pretty good to balance out the sub nicely.

That's a pretty good amp. I had a gto752 and I've never seen any bad reviews
