How do I know if I have a monsoon setup in my 2006 GT? Does it say "Monsoon" on the radio? Mine seems pretty basic. Here is a picture of what mine looks like (not my picture)....

Either way, I am looking at replacing it with a Pioneer 6200BT that I had in my 2000 GTP. For some reason Crutchfield says that it won't fit my car. WTH? I own the 6200BT, I own the Axxess steering wheel control module (Axxess site says that it is what I need) and the wiring harness from the 2000 GTP, but now I am hearing that I might need some special wiring harness to get some bells and dings? What's up with that? I don't have on-star, and I guess outside of the door ding, the seatbelt ding, and the door lock ding (yeah, ding not chime), I am not sure what I would miss by using what I have instead of spending another $75 on an adapter.

Please advise to any or all of the above.

    Thanks kids!

You have the basic of basic factory radio and no you don't have a monsoon setup.

You will need an adapter to keep your factory door chimes and OnStar in the car.

You will also lose your calendar function in your DIC after you take that radio out.

I knew about the calendar being gone. The car doesn't have OnStar, so does it really matter about the door chimes?

LOL. This is the same radio (Pioneer 6200BT) that my wife was telling me was the reason that I couldn't buy that Kenwood... :-)

Then if you don't mind that you won't have the factory door chimes, then I wouldn't buy that adapter as it would be a waste of your money.

As I said in my for sale thread, tell her you'll sell your pioneer 6200BT after you buy my kenwood lol.

Ive seen some grand prixs with monsoon with these single cd decks, if it displays monsoon for a second or two when you push power you have monsoon if not it's base sound system.

He doesn't have OnStar in his car, so it's pretty much a guarantee that he doesn't have a monsoon system. Plus, you would know if you did or not as the sound quality is way better than a base system. He would have a speaker on his dash too if he did.
